The promise of Cloud IT and Software as a Service (SaaS) is captivating for small business owners. A typical small business may run dozen or so SaaS applications on daily basis. Email, time sheet, accounting, project management, expense tracking are few such applications. However, this raises another issue which is bit irritating. First, with every new application I have one more credential to manage. Second, I have to keep moving my data, files etc. back and forth between my computer and SaaS application. Third, I waste good amount of time looking for the correct or latest copy of the files in multiple places. Since I live and breathe Office 365. I am always wondering to use Office 365 as my desktop in the Cloud and bring all my “data” and “apps” under one roof.
Office 365 offers many cool features. But in my opinion the best part is the ability to bring in the custom apps or add-ins in the environment. If my SaaS could be exposed as an “app” then I solve all of my three irritation I mentioned above. I can use my Office 365 credentials to access my SaaS apps. My data and files are in one place and I don’t have to search around to find out the latest versions.
